This portrait of Queen Sirikit could not be restored in the same way as the King’s portrait. Nonetheless, it benefited from the deep cleaning!
“Before”
Problem: The picture is torn and damaged by insect stains and the paper is wavy and swollen. Because the poster had been glued to the mounting board, it was impossible to remove the painted layer for touch up.
Conservation Guidelines: The surface of the picture was cleaned and the frame repaired and strengthened with new sealing to protect the back from future infiltration by dust and insects.
