Noparat Livididdhi is a favorite artist and we commissioned several paintings when we visited his home gallery at Bang Bua Thong. My husband ordered them to be used as gifts for “company guests” from abroad. In fact we ended up keeping most of them–couldn’t bear to give them away! This one, Poppy Field, in soothing pastel colors, hung in our elder daughter’s bedroom during her teens.
“Before”

Problem: The oil problem in dry paint, steep conditions, brittle colors, cracking, no adhesion to the canvas

Conservation guidelines
Use chemicals to clean the existing varnish – remove the layer of cracked paint and touch up the color. Seal the layer so it adheres to the canvas thus reducing the surface cracks. Apply a new coat of varnish. Clean the frame and add a back panel to prevent damage from dust, insects or impact coming from the back.
“After”

Totally refreshed with brilliant colors of the northern Thai mountainside restored!
