21. Chit-Chat with the Curator: Aj. Somkoul Thonglor’s visit

At 333 Gallery, River City, with the artists works on the wall behind us!

Welcoming Ajarn Somkoul Thonglor and his wife Khun Cat to Collectibles Corner was a highlight of May! He was visiting the exhibition at 333 Gallery River City and we told him we were fans and my husband had collected 12 of his paintings. So they saw some old pieces they hardly remembered–from before they got married, and several of his abstract works as well. But because we keep our art at home and in our weekend place upcountry, they couldn’t see all 12 items! Here they are!

I have a large signed somkoul painting dated 1980.
Is it AJ. Somkoul thOnglor?
It a rIver scene, With a large pottery jug sitting neXt to a Wooden dock.

Your description sounds like Somkual Thonglor’s style! (“Aj. = ajarn, the respectful Thai word for teacher/professor! I would be interested in seeing a photo to confirm my impression!

Sorry fOr my auTo correction above (thOnglor)

Yes, auto-correct is sometimes very unhelpful!

Thanks for thr great article!
