Chit-Chat with the Curator #28: End of 2-Year Hibernation –Time to Wake Up!

It has been over two years since the last post! Time has flown by. The gallery was locked up during COVID although WAREHOUSE30  remained open as the regulations allowed. The commercial galleries in WAREHOUSE30 were required to close too at first but later reopened for  limited sized groups.  Collectibles Corner’s doors were closed for the duration of that difficult time of COVID.

“When It rains, it pours”  After Covid, heavy   seasonal rains saturated the roof of our 75 year old 2-story art deco structure and the ceiling collapsed — two times–causing more havoc.  That was when I “tidied up” my e-mail files and deleted the “archive”. I shouldn’t have done that! ALL the pending correspondence with photograph attachments sent in for appraisal disappeared! Many apologies to the writers who never got proper replies!

By the time COVID had dissipated and the gallery was in good repair—this Collcorner.com website had vanished! That’s what happens when you don’t renew your website domain! Now it is restored and the content reloaded, ready for you to enjoy scrolling though the paintings again!

GOOD NEWS

Yesterday my favorite artist, Sa-gniam Yarangsri, posted on Facebook the results of a charity auction which yielded very high prices for two works of his. One of his famous sky paintings sold for 2.9 MILLION! The other for 440,000!

My husband and I have been collecting his work since the early 2000s and now have a total of 38 pieces of his work (most of which are included on this website, if you want to take a look! He was in the group of “Northern Impressionists” and we drove to the “Artist House” on top of Doi Mae Salong to buy the first piece!
